When grey or windy weather thwart beach plans in Durban, visiting a nature reserve is our favorite outdoor activity.  There must be about 10 nature reserves dotted within under an hour’s drive from central Durban.

One grey day on our last Durban trip we chose to revisit the Kenneth Stainbank Nature reserve in Yellowwood Park, sort of between the Bluff and Queensburgh.

Our car shared the parking lot with zebra.  On beginning the shortest ‘brown trail’ Fjord (8) exclaimed “This is just what my legs needed!”

Despite lovely train marking stones, we got a little lost, which somewhat spoiled the walk.  If you do the hike, first have a good look at the trail board in the car park area, before setting off.

Recently we have also visited these Durban Nature Reserves
