The first day of our spring flower trip included a visit to Clanwilliam and ended spending the night in Lambert’s Bay.
Isabella’s restaurant overlooking the harbour, proved to be the axis around which we gathered for tea (for the in-laws), beer (for me) and later a family supper. Sea weathered fishing boats stamped with that special West Coast essence posed as if for a postcard in front of the restaurant.
My brother-in- law Al and his family drove all the way from Somerset West to join us in the evening. Thankfully the food was excellent. Al could not spend the night in Lambert’s Bay as accommodation was booked out, he must have returned home close to midnight.
We spent the night at White Sands Guest House, our room was fresh and clean, and our hosts friendly and hospitable.
In the morning the white beaches summoned with a siren song, we answered the call before the in-laws departed for home in the morning and we headed for Kamieskroon, on the next leg of our trip.
