Salter Frother Review

Salter Frother

Our weekend treat is real coffee in the morning. We were given a DeLonghi Coffee Machine as a wedding gift almost 8 years ago and it’s still going strong but sometimes it’s just a bit quicker and easier to make plunge pot coffee. I had been looking longingly at a few frothers in the shops and was delighted when Cliff gave me one as a Christmas gift.

On first use we were very impressed, it frothed the milk beautifully, voila instant cappachino woohoo! I had used it only twice when it decided to stop working. One thing which will get me going on “they don’t make thing’s like they used to” rants is when a new or almost new product has to be returned and it’s rotten how frequently this happens. The author Robert M. Pirsig made strong and valid comments about quality in ‘Zen and the Art of Motorcyle Maintence’, quality seems more and more lacking in every aspect of modern life. I digress, Cliff schlepped back to the store where he bought it and it has been exchanged for a new one …. so far so good, well I’ve used it once.

I don’t want to seem ungrateful for the thoughtful and much appreciated Christmas gift but there is another flaw, the top section (battery compartment) is awfully tricky to line up and close. I hope that we will share a long and happy life with the replacement. It was a lovely gift after all.

March update – 3 months later

The frother is no more, well it exists in physical form but is no longer functional.  I dropped it from about 1m and now it wobbles so much that it won’t make froth and is about to be binned and replaced by another brand which will hopefully have a better lifespan
