The 5km Zebra trail at Hennops Hiking trails, great for kids

We haven’t been hiking for ages.  Recently this was remedied going on a hike at Hennops River.  The 5km Zebra trail was perfect for our children aged 7 & 10.  Entering the hike I chose the suspension bridge after Cliff crossed on the cable car over the strongly flowing Hennops river, with the children.  At the end of the circular route I put fear aside and did the cable car, which was not as nerve wrecking as imagined.

Before leaving home we downloaded the Geocaching app and I quickly assembled a pack of goodies in case we found a cache to swap.  Unfortunately there were no Geocaches on the hike route.  Maybe next time I will start a new one for future visitors.

A fairy house mushroom, kids imagination fodder

The hike begins with a short relatively steep section but it was not overly strenuous.  After an hour we stopped in a patch of shade to enjoy some snacks.   We did see zebra and wildebeest but our children’s jabbering sent them running.  In total the hike took 2 hours.  This is one which I will be more than happy to do again.  I would also like to do the shorter 2.5 km hike as apparently there are caves on that route.

Loved the clear trail markings! Poor markings can lead to a lot of stress

NOTE :  As of Feb 2018 the entrance fee was R70 per adult and R40 per child
