Magical Butterfly World

Butterfly world in the Paarl area of the Western Cape is a lovely outing for parents with Children.  This week we made our 2nd visit to Butterfly world and loved it again.  We met up with Joanne (Fjord’s Godmother) and spent a few hours enjoying the place.  The children were enchanted with the butterflies, Fjord was desperately hoping that one would land on him, a pretty butterfly with transparent wings complied with his wish by landing on his arm but he specifically wanted one on his hand which would have been highly unlikely.

Butterfly World does not only host butterflies, there are also spiders (don’t worry in tanks), lizards, marmosets, Guinea pigs and even a duiker and more.

A year ago (Dec ’11) when we visited (also with Joanne) we had a meal at the Jungle Leaf Cafe, it was possibly the worst restaurant meal we have ever eaten, not only did it taste horrible but Joanne’s toasted chicken mayo made her really sick.  In fairness maybe things have changed in the last year but we were not prepared to risk it.  Instead we discovered Simonsvlei Winery only 5.3km down the road which has an amazing kids play area and great food.
