Veldskoen Padstal – Best Chicken Burger ever!

On our travels between Johannesburg and Cape Town we have often popped into Veldskoen Padstal in the Hex River valley. On one occasion we picked up a bottle of award winning wine at a very good price. We had never before noticed the lovely outside eating area. On our last visit we happened to be there around lunch time and found the outide area. There was a trampoline for the travel weary children to play on and we sat down to order.

The food was exceptional. Cliff does not eat red meat, his regular choice on a lunch menu is a chicken burger. When the food arrived his first exclamation was, “wow! real homemade chips”, at almost all restaurants chips seem to me made from reconstituted potatoes and both texture and taste are not great. When he tasted his burger he proclaimed that it was the best chicken burger that he has ever had, no small praise indeed! My beef burger was also excellent. We will most certainly stop there for a meal again.
