My mother the artist Annice Whitehead

I can never begin to say how proud I am of my mother.  Not only has she been the best mother but she is a marvelous creative spirit.  Sadly her artistic genes did not make it into my DNA but she taught me to look at the world differently.  When we are in a vast expanse of space she will say something like “It’s so important to stretch the eyes.”  When looking at art she has shown me to look for balance and the use of light, she has enhanced my perception of the world around me.

Mum is a South African Artist and former Art teacher. I have many happy memories watching her at work.  Her work has been sold internationally and she has won several art awards.  She has also acted as a judge at art exhibitions.

A while ago I set up a Facebook page for Mum’s art, a painting sold in the first week.  I would like to use this page to add all her paintings and I will update it each time new ones are photographed.  It would be all kinds of awesome if you pop over and like her page.

When I was a teen, Mum and Dad were always stopping on trips to photograph African Murals.  Dad’s photos were published in a book titled The African Mural which Mum co-authored.  The pictures below were inspired by the dwellings adorned in Murals.    These are available, sizes prices on request.
