An uplifting break at Pakamisa Private Game Reserve

“We’ll travel along, singing our song, Side by Side”

We are “all about the journey” travelers.  Instead of pushing from Boksburg to Mabibi in a solid 595 km stretch.  We stopped at Pakamisa for a night in Pongola (410 km from home).  The problem with a stop like this is that we wish that we had more time there.  The children would have loved to do a horseback safari and it’s a perfect place to unwind.

I could spend a good long holiday in this room

2 Activities were included in the price to stay at Pakamisa.  Chamu took us on a game drive, sharing a wealth of interesting facts.  He also showed us how to find south using the Southern Cross as we drove back after sunset.  He has the coolest laser pointer which Fjord and Cliff both coveted.

Lovely Kingfisher, I must point out that this pic was taken from the Game vehicle about 20 m away from us. My Canon SX 610 is the most amazing little camera.

Our other activity was archery which Acacia (age 7) found a bit difficult but we struggled to drag Fjord away.

Pakamisa is the Zulu word for “to lift up” what a perfectly apt name for a bushveld break.
